MEXICO, NY – The holiday season is upon us and what better way to herald its arrival than gathering with your friends, neighbors and visitors to enjoy the special charm of downtown Mexico during Christmas in Mexico Saturday, featuring an appearance by jolly old Saint Nicholas himself.
Taking place December 3, this day-long, village-wide event includes church bazaars, specials offered by local businesses, train exhibit, horse-drawn carriage rides, caroling, Mexico Brass, and Friends of Bob Cratchit wandering the village in period costumes starting at 9 a.m.
To end the day’s celebration is the Christmas in Mexico Holiday Parade at 4:30 p.m., followed by the lighting of the village Christmas tree and a visit with Santa for the kids at the fire hall.
Christmas in Mexico is hosted by the Greater Mexico Chamber of Commerce and made possibly by the support of local businesses and community organizations.
You can find free trolley stops all through town sponsored by Pathfinder Bank and free carriage rides starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. sponsored by Oswego County Federal Credit.
The public is invited to bring a new unwrapped toy to the tree lighting for Operation Reindeer.
All toys collected will be distributed to children right here in the Mexico area.
