A native of Fair Haven, Van Fleet, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from SUNY Oswego, previously worked as a human resources generalist for Fowler Bros., Inc. in Wolcott.

She  is excited to be working for an organization that she admires and is looking forward to her new role with United Way.

“I became familiar with United Way through my husband,” said Van Fleet. “When he began supporting Novelis’ in-house employee campaign for United Way I was curious about the work United Way does. I was impressed with the way in which United Way provides funding to so many different agencies. Unlike charitable organizations that support a specific program United Way helps fund a significant number of agencies and programs that serve the entire community. I realized that there is a real need for the programs United Way funds. I love the fact that these programs benefit people right here in Oswego County and that United Way helps to make it possible. United Way is an essential part of our community and I am honored to be a part it.”

As financial director, Van Fleet will be responsible for all financial aspects of United Way including tracking the results of in-house United Way campaigns conducted by local companies as well as donations from small businesses and individuals.

“I’m pleased to welcome Kayla to our staff,” said Dewine. “Her knowledge of the many aspects of business administration, as well as her hands-on experience working in the finance and human resources departments for a business that employs more than 400 individuals, will serve her well in her new position as finance director at United Way.”
