MEXICO, NY – The Oswego County BOCES referendum was defeated Wednesday, almost two to one by voters in the BOCES district.
According to the BOCES Web site, 2,810 voters said ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œnoÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â to the project over 1,543 voters who supported the plan.
ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œOn behalf Oswego County BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Camerino and the Board of Education, we would like to express our thanks to the voters who turned out for the Building Project referendum on Nov. 12,ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â a message on the Web site reads.
ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œWe understand that the uncertain economic climate makes it difficult for some component school districts and BOCESÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ district residents to support such a financial undertaking at this time,ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â the message continues. ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œWith four years of planning behind yesterdayÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s vote, we now must regroup and consider what options are viable, as the need for renovation still exists.ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â
