KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Monday that Oswego State senior men’s basketball player Chad Hayden Ward was named to the 2012-13 NABC Division III All-East First Team. The All-District teams are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. Ward earned NABC All-East Second Team recognition last season.
Ward, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Year, averaged 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game to help lead the Lakers to a 19-8 record and the SUNYAC semifinals. The Montauk, N.Y. native was also named to the ECAC Division III Upstate First Team and D3hoops.com East Region First Team. Ward joined Cortland’s Jesse Winter as the only SUNYAC players on the first team, as Buffalo State’s Jake Simmons was a second team honoree.
Ward finished his career ranked top-ten on the career scoring list at 1,393 points and second in career rebounds with 892. In 2011-12, he also played a major part in the team’s first SUNYAC Championship since 1965.
