On Saturday, December 5, 2009 the Oswego Minor Hockey Association’s Speedway Squirts Tier II hockey team will be conducting a canned food drive at the Crisafulli Ice Rink (The Fort) located on East Ninth Street in Oswego. Team members and coaches will be present all day to collect any canned foods that are donated. The community is invited to participate in this event. The Speedway Squirt hockey team is comprised of 9 and 10 year old boys and girls from the area and is coached by RJ Grimshaw, Bill Greene and Anthony Ciappa. All food items collected from this event will be donated to the Human Concerns Food Pantry in Oswego.

Human Concerns has been serving families in need of food within the Oswego City School District for over 10 years. Families can utilize their services once a month and can receive free bread on a daily basis. This food pantry is located at 85 East 4th Street in Oswego and they are open Monday through Friday from 12-3pm. For more information regarding their services, you may contact them at 342-7301.

Fans and players attending hockey games on that day are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the game. For more information about this event, please contact RJ Grimshaw at 529-2903. Let’s work together and help feed the needy during this holiday season!
