NORTHERN CAYUGA, OSWEGO, LEWIS COUNTIES – INCLUDING THE CITIES OF FAIR HAVEN, OSWEGO and LOWVILLE
1118 AM EST WED FEB 26 2014

HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW TO CONTINUE TODAY.

A BAND OF HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS FAR NORTHERN CAYUGA COUNTY, CENTRAL OSWEGO COUNTY AND MAINLY THE TUG HILL REGION OF LEWIS COUNTY.

THIS BAND EXTENDS FROM NORTH OF CENTRAL SQUARE TO PULASKI ALONG I-81 EASTWARD TO AREAS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ALTMAR, REDFIELD AND OSCEOLA.

THIS BAND WILL OSCILLATE SLIGHTLY NORTHWARD AT TIMES POSSIBLY IMPACTING AREAS AS FAR NORTH AS THE JEFFERSON OSWEGO COUNTY LINE INCLUDING SANDY CREEK.

SNOWFALL RATES UP OF AN INCH PLUS PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE HEAVIEST SNOWS.

IN ADDITION WEST WINDS GUSTING 20 TO 30 MPH WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND WIND WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES DOWN TO LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

THIS WILL MAKE FOR DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS ACROSS THE TUG HILL ALONG I-81 FROM NORTH OF CENTRAL SQUARE TO AS FAR NORTH AS THE JEFFERSON OSWEGO COUNTY LINE.

DRIVERS ARE URGED TO SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW PLENTY OF EXTRA TIME TO REACH THEIR DESTINATIONS
