Wednesday’s High School Scoreboard

Boys Varsity Soccer

Chittenango 1, Fulton 0

The Bears pulled an upset of Fulton with a goal in the 73rd minute from Phil Anson.  Trevor Trovato stopped 7 shots for Fulton, now 6-2-1.

Girls Modified Soccer

Fabius-Pompey 2, Hannibal 0

Says coach Sharon Nihoff: “F-P scored on a miscue by my 7th grade goalie in the second quarter with 3:45 left.  We had our chances in the third and fourth  quarters to tie with several breakaways but their goalie was scooping up everything.   Fabius scored again in the 4th quarter with 5:42 left with a nice outside  shot.  The team played well but just could not find the net.” (Thanks to coach Nihoff for the info.  Coaches: e-mail us your JV and modified scores. We’d love to have them.)

Girls Varsity Tennis

Oswego 7, Nottingham 0

Only one doubles match was close as the Lady Bucs dominated Nottingham.  Oswego is now 3-4.

J-D 7, Fulton 0

The doubles team of Brooke Castillo and Liz Guernsey took their J-D opponents to three sets, but otherwise, the Rams showed why they’re unbeaten in league play with a dominating performance over 3-4 Fulton.

Varsity Boys Volleyball

C-NS 3, Oswego 0

Kevin O’Connor, one of the stars of the Oswego team, suffered an ankle injury during the match.  Oswego could not recover, falling in straight games to 8-2 C-NS.  Ian Van Wert filled O’Connor’s role of feeding the ball, notching 11 assists.  Gary Carpentier had 9 kills for the 4-3 Bucs.

Rick Uribe led Oswego with more than 10 kills in the first game, the only one that was close.

Varsity Boys Cross Country

Auburn was just a step behind Oswego at the finish line, as the Bucs took first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth.  Brandon Auyer finished first by just two seconds.  Patric Shafer finished fifth by just one second.

ES-M 2, Fulton 1, Phoenix 0

Fulton pinned a 15-50 shutout on Phoenix in this tri-meet.  ES-M beat Fulton 22-39.  Kyle Martin finished second for the Raiders, nearly a full minute behind ES-M’s Andres Salcedo.  Noah Carroll was fourth.  Phoenix did not place a runner in the top 10 and was shut out, 15-50, by ES-M as well.

Westhill 2, Hannibal 1, Cazenovia 0

Hannibal earned its first win of the season, 26-30, over Cazenovia.  The Warriors fell to Westhill, 25-34.  Josh Sheldon finished first, at 18:27, to pace the Warriors.

ES-M 2, Phoenix 1, Fulton 0

A very close tri-meet, in which Fulton fell 24-31 to Phoenix and 26-33 to ES-M.  Fulton’s Erin Hudson crossed the finish line first overall.
