OSWEGO, NY – A Williamstown woman is behind bars, charged with welfare fraud.
On Tuesday (Oct. 20) at 5:22 p.m., sheriff’s deputies arrested Stephanie L. Groff, 43, of 160 Harry Bryant Road, Williamstown, on charges of fourth degree welfare fraud, fourth degree grand larceny and first degree offering a false instrument for filing.
The arrest stems from an investigation conducted by the Oswego County Department of Social Services.
She allegedly received services in the form of food stamps during the months of January and February 2012 due to not reporting incomes received.
Groff was arraigned in the Town of Mexico Court by Hon. Judge Moretti.
She was remanded to the Oswego County Jail, held without bail.
Groff is to return to Town of Mexico Court on Nov. 17.
