TROY, NY — Mary West of Oswego was an integral part of the nationally-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women’s cross-country team winning its second straight Liberty League Championship on Saturday (Oct. 29) at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva.
West, a Biochemistry and Biophysics major from G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton, is a senior captain who finished second on the team and fifth overall in the 121-runner field with a 6K time of 23:06.4 (6:12 pace) to earn All-Liberty League First Team honors.
RPI finished first with 30 team points, finishing comfortably ahead of second place St. Lawrence (46) and third place RIT (71).
Vassar (108) finished fourth followed by Clarkson (125), William Smith (191), Union (216) and Bard (237).
The No. 16 Engineers, who have now won two meets this year with one runner-up and a third place finish, are idle until November 12 when they compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional at Rowan University.
