FULTON – CNY Arts Center announces auditions for Irving Berlin’s White Christmas Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. – noon at the Arts Center, 11 River Glen Drive on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus.
They will be followed by dance auditions from noon to 1 p.m.
Auditions will continue Monday, April 16, from 6-9 p.m. at the Arts HotSpot, 47 S. First St., Fulton.
Auditioners should prepare 32 bars each of an up-tempo and a ballad from classic Broadway show tunes (must provide sheet music) and a one minute comedic monologue.
Dancers will learn a short routine as part of their audition.
Tap dancers are encouraged to audition.
All dancers must arrive by noon.
“The popular Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye 1954 movie is brought to life onstage with a large cast of dancers and other principal roles including the two famous sisters played by Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen in the film. The summer family musical is a highlight of our season and a great activity for teens who often have more time on their hands during the summer,” said Nancy Fox, director. “The principal roles call for six adults and several supporting roles. There is only one role for a girl age 9-11.”
Directed by Fox with returning choreographer Kara Palmer (Bye Bye Birdie), auditions will be assisted by Cara D’Emanuele, Rochester, NY-based full-time, professional director/musical director and voice/acting/audition coach, who delivered a free musical theatre audition workshop at last month’s Talent Share at the HotSpot.
She will also return as vocal coach for the production for music rehearsals in May and June.
The production team is also searching for a rehearsal pianist and musician to play the show during tech and performance weekends, August 3-12.
