RUREY, William “Bill” 84, of Port Richey, FL and formerly of Fulton, NY passed
away peacefully Tuesday, June 26, with his children at his side.
He was born in Fulton and was a graduate of Mexico Academy,
class of 1951. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and retired
from the Fulton Fire Department in 1981 at the rank of captain.
He then relocated to Sacramento, California in 1981 and Port
Richey, Florida in 1996.
Bill had many interests and enjoyed reading, camping,
watching the Tampa Bay Rays, and spending time with friends
and family. He traveled extensively, including Hawaii, Alaska,
and the Caribbean. He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church,
the Elks and served as a volunteer at the Medical Center of Trinity
Hospital at the time of his death.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Gertrude Rurey and
his wife of 57 years, Calista and survived by son, Roger
(Joan) Rurey of Vestal, NY; daughter, Candy (Ralph) Buckley
of Haverhill, MA; grandchildren, Erin (Tom) Moore, Elizabeth
(Brian) Deno, Jeff Rurey and his fiancé Elisabeth Treadwell;
great-granddaughters, Amelia Moore and Mikayla Deno;
great-grandsons, Austin Moore and Logan Deno; significant other,
Rosetta Otten; sister-in-law, Darlene (Robert) Flint of Central
Square, NY; brother-in-law, Douglas (Carol) Runions of Clifford, NY;
as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill will be interred at the National Cemetery in Bath, NY at
the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Allen Memorial
Home, Endicott, NY.
