William G. Summerville, 79, of Granby, passed away Tuesday at The Manor at Seneca Hill in Volney. A native of Granby, Bill had owned and operated Summer-Villa Farms. He was a life member and past commissioner of the Granby Center Fire Department, a member of Oswego County Cooperative Extension, a 50 year member of the New York State and National Holstein Association and was the recipient of the Granby Citizen of the Year award. Bill was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1956 and a member of the American Legion.
He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Smith who passed away in 1997. Bill will be greatly missed and forever loved by his wife of 54 years, Jane; sons, William J. (Deana) and Robert J. (Angela), daughters, Laura (George) Peterson, Kathryn (Roger) Sevilla; brother, Frederick (Vivian) Summerville ; sister, Mary Ellen (Jim) Meagher; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, Nicholas, Karlie, Kaitlyn, Philip, Kristen, Jenna, Natalie, Jacob; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Rt. 48, Minetto. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
