The Fulton First United Methodist Church (on St. Rt. 176, across from the Junior High School) recently held a Community Health and Wellness Expo on Sunday, February 28 from 3:00-7:00pm. Over 150 adults and children attended. This exciting event was designed to bring area health professionals and organizations together in an effort to increase health awareness and the positive effects it can have both physically and mentally. Health screenings, activities, materials, demonstrations and resources were available for children, youth and adults in an effort to create health awareness.
A presentation of “You on a Diet” with Dr. Michael Roizen was shown at 7:00pm. Following the DVD, Dr. Chet Zelasko Skyped in live to answer health related questions. In addition, children and youth had the opportunity to join the KidFit 30 Movement, a program that challenges youth to play 30 minutes a day.
During the Expo, participants were encouraged to participate in a Health Questionnaire Scavenger Hunt. The object of the hunt was to visit each vendor and find answers related to products or services promoted at their booths. Once the questionnaire was completed, participants had an opportunity to enter a drawing for three door prizes.
