On Thursday, October 21st from 8:30am to 1:00pm , the Workforce Board of Oswego County will be hosting the 5th Annual Youth Employment Summit at Sheldon Hall on the SUNY Oswego Campus.
The event brings Oswego County high school Juniors and Seniors together to explore career opportunities in the four core industries in Oswego County that include Health care, Manufacturing , Energy and Hospitality.
This year the featured keynote speaker is Al Duncan, a nationally recognized youth employment mentor and speaker. Additionally, workshops on starting your own business, careers in food service, law, health care, college life and personal branding will take place.
The program provides ” a great opportunities for Oswego County students to meet people who have successful careers in their home towns, and make Oswego county a truly great place to live and work!” according to Workforce Board Director Jeff Grimshaw. Additionally, representatives from Novelis, Constellation Energy and Huhtamaki Consumer Packaging will be available to speak to students during the course of the day.
The Youth Employment Summit is generously supported by Constellation Energy, Eastern Shore Associates, Huhtamaki Packaging, Fulton Savings Bank, The Oswego County Labor Council, along with volunteers planners from the Oswego City- county Youth Bureau, Oswego County Opportunities, Oswego County Probation Department, Oswego County Department of Social Services Employment and Training, Oswego Health, SUNY Oswego, and Cayuga Community College.
