OSWEGO – There is at least one person who hopes there is more snow in the Port City, at least on February 24.
Jennifer Losurdo of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau was at this week’s Physical Services Committee to seek approval to host a snowman building contest in Franklin Square Park (West Park) on February 24.
Committee members gave the request a favorable recommendation and sent it on to the full council for final consideration.
The event is open to all families.
Sign in starts at 10 a.m. Building and decorating gets under way at 10:30 a.m. Judging starts at noon.
The event runs until 3 p.m.
The contest will be a family oriented affair with fun for all ages, Losurdo explained.
Children may use wigs, scarves, mittens, etc. to decorate their snowperson.
Members of the Lions Club will judge the creations and prizes will be awarded.
The Kiwanis Club will be available to serve refreshments and Dino’s House of Burgers will have food available.
In other action, the committee approved a request from the Sea Cadets to use the McCrobie Building on certain dates in 2018 for training drills.
