OSWEGO, NY – Teresa Woolson, president of the VOW Foundation and Penny Morley, co-chair of the Coalition to Combat Adolescent Substance Abuse in Oswego County, announce several youth contests around substance abuse (heroin, synthetic drugs, marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, etc.) and healthy options/alternatives to be held at the Oswego County SAFE Fair on April 26 at the Elks Lodge in Oswego.
Poster contests include two age groups (8-17) and (18-25).
Posters shall be no larger than 11×17, using pencils, pens, markers, paints, magazine cutouts, digital and printed materials.
The poster must include a message about the dangers of substance abuse and include at least one fact about a particular drug.
Posters are due by 1 p.m. on April 26 at the SAFE Fair.
One entry per person submitted with entry form signed by parent/guardian for under 18 years of age.
For the Instagram Contest, using the Hashtag #SAFEFair, photos should have a message regarding healthy options/alternatives to doing drugs and should include a caption about the healthy option.
Photos can be digital drawings, photos, colorings, enhancements, etc. and must be from a public profile aged 25 or under.
An entry form must be attached, with parental signature for under 18.
One entry per person posted on or before April 25 at noon.
There will be a coloring contest available during the fair for ages 7 and under from 12 noon to 3:30 p.m. with all materials provided.
Fair exhibitors will judge the contests and announce the winning entries at 4 p.m. at the fair.
Prizes include gift cards and recognition.
All entries must be appropriate for all ages.
All entries become the property of the VOW Foundation and the Coalition.
Posters will be on display at the fair on April 26 at the Elks Lodge in Oswego.

Entertainment, in addition to the contests, include music, carnival-type games, prizes, raffles, face painting, Children’s Museum of Oswego play area and food will be available.
This is a free event for all ages to learn about important health topics in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment.
