Cortland, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference has honored Matt Zawadzki and Shawn Hulshof of the men’s ice hockey team with weekly awards. Zawadzki was named the conference’s Goalie of the Week while Hulshof earned Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 8, 2013.
Zawadzki stopped a career-high 35 shots against the nation’s No. 1 team, Plattsburgh State, en route to a 3-3 tie on Saturday. Friday night he had 26 saves against Potsdam, only allowing one goal in the 7-1 victory. On the weekend, Zawadzki finished with a .938 save percentage and a 1.93 GAA.
On the offensive side of the puck, Hulshof tallied three goals over the two-game span. Hulshof netted two power-play goals, both coming in the first period against Potsdam on Friday. The multi-goal game is Hulshof’s first of his career. In Saturday’s game against Plattsburgh, Hulshof found the back of the net again, this time giving Oswego a 2-1 lead.
Oswego is on a break until the New Year, returning to action at 7 p.m. on January 3 as it hosts Curry College on the first day of the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic.
