Dr. Uva recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The Assembly Resolution commemorates that award as well as his 30 plus years as an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Come See the Sap Run at Maple Weekend Events in Fulton, Hannibal

Syrup is at the right density and good to go!This past weekend marked the first of two Maple Weekends in Upstate New York. These are the two weekends when sap is running strongest and sugarhouses all over Oswego, Oneida, Jefferson, and Lewis counties will open their doors to the public.

Inside, visit Maple Hill Farms in Hannibal and see a gallery of photos.

Pork in the Parking Lot Event to Support Independence Celebration

Local band Long Time Coming will be donating its time to entertain during “Pork in the Parking Lot,” on Saturday. Pictured are Long Time Coming band members: Bill, Charlie Ford, Jim Dillabough, Joe Stock and Bill Wiltsie.The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Parade Committee will be holding a pulled pork dinner, Pork in the Parking Lot, on Saturday beginning at noon at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego to raise funds for the upcoming Independence Parade and Celebration.

Farmworkers Labor Act is Poor Policy for Those in Reality

On the same day farmers were bracing for a cold streak, the Assembly passed a bill that imposes factory-like mandates on family farms, and failed to recognize the unique industry heavily dependent on weather and harvest schedules. The Farmworkers Fair Labor Practices Act passed the Assembly 83-53. I voted against it. The bill imposes new labor mandates, regulations and financial burdens for farmers, without considering the environment or circumstances it takes to run a successful farm.
