The Fulton City School District is committed to supporting the success of all of their students, in school and after they graduate. Recognizing the importance of working with the student, their families and the community to ensure that success, the district is asking for assistance in addressing some of the significant barriers that students face on the road to graduation, among them: chronic absenteeism, school drop outs and the impact of poor economic conditions in the community.
To begin the important conversations about the solutions to these educational challenges, the Fulton City School District will be hosting a screening of the Public Broadcasting System Frontline program entitled “Drop Out Nation.”
The screening will take place on February 6 at 6 p.m. in the G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium, with small group discussions to follow.
Dinner will be served and child care will be available onsite for children ages 4 and up.
The film follows a group of students in Houston, Texas, as they struggle to stay in school and those who are working to keep them there.
The film seeks to build awareness of the issues that have contributed to the dropout crisis and develop solutions that will help students stay on the path to graduation and future success.
The event is open to any interested residents, educators, service providers, or business people in Oswego County.
