FULTON, NY – Representatives from Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) and the Rural Health Network met with state officials on November 17th to celebrate Oswego County’s participation in the first-ever National Rural Health Day.
Established by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH), National Rural Health Day was designed to showcase rural America; increase awareness of rural health-related issues; and promote the efforts of NOSORH, State Offices of Rural Health and others in addressing those issues.
“We are very excited that our state and federal governments chose to acknowledge rural health in this celebratory manner,” said Coordinator of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County, Danielle Wert. “Rural Health Network of Oswego County and its healthcare partners work collaboratively to address accessibility issues, a lack of healthcare providers and develop prevention strategies to build healthier communities for a healthier future. “We are proud of our healthcare providers in Oswego County. They are very deserving of this recognition.”
NYS Senator, Patty Ritchie, NYS Assemblywoman, Claudia Tenney, and NYS Assemblyman, Will Barclay, all issued citations proclaiming November 17th as National Rural Health Day. The three praised the Rural Health Network of Oswego County and its participating partners for their patient-centered approach to health care and their collaborative efforts to meet the needs of the communities they serve and to build healthier tomorrow for residents of Oswego County.
