OHS Students Explore Doppler On Wheels

Oswego High School students explore the Doppler on Wheels.

OSWEGO – In the days leading up to the solar eclipse in Oswego, scientists and weather enthusiasts descended upon the port city to capture a glimpse of the phenomenon. Among those visitors were famous storm chasers Josh Wurman and Karen Kosiba, who rolled into town on the Doppler on Wheels, making a stop at Oswego High School for a meteorology lesson.

Students in Jason Guild’s meteorology class had an opportunity to explore the unique vehicle, full of weather tools and equipment. The vehicle often tracks storms and other weather-related events to gauge everything from radar to changes in atmospheric pressure and more.

“This is an incredible learning opportunity for these students,” Guild said. “They were able to meet with some of the leading experts in their field and explore the Doppler on Wheels at the same time. I’m grateful they had this experience.”
