Katherine A. Sweeting, 56, of Oswego, passed away August 28th, 2008, after a three year battle with Ovarian Cancer.
Born in Oswego on November 1st, 1951, to the late Orlynn and Clara (Fox) Parkhurst.
She graduated from Mexico High School in 1969 and graduated from Oswego State in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
Kathy was employed at the James Fitzpatrick Power Plant as a security guard, and after graduating she was employed by the Oswego City Police Department as a computer specialist.
Her hobbies include gardening, crocheting, singing with her husband and spending time with her family.
She met her soul mate, George Sweeting I, in 1974 and on June 18th, 1999, she decided she knew him well enough to make him her husband.
She is survived by her husband, her children, Carol (Mike) Peters of New Haven; David (Te-ana Baldwin) Desgrosiellier of Fulton and William (Dawn Balcom) Sweeting of New Haven. Stepchildren, Lori (Scott) Ford, Kelly Burridge, Wendy (Jack) Smegelsky, George (Pam Bessel) Sweeting II, Patricia (Steve Taylor) Sweeting, Son-in-law, Shawn Burridge, all of Oswego. Grandchildren, Rusty Peters, Adison, Robert and Nicholas Desgrosiellier, Katherine, Elizabeth, George III, Ty and Steven Sweeting, Eric, Jenna and Kyle Burridge, Connor Taylor and Richard, Kristy and Crystal Balcom. Sisters, Nancy Barber of New Haven and Faith (Mark) Richardson of New Haven, Brother-in-law, Robert (Sheila) Sweeting and sister-in-law, Lillian Squires, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Richard Parkhurst and his wife Ruth (Wise) Parkhurst.
The family would like to thank the staff at Syracuse Oncologists and Oswego County Hospice.
There will be no calling hours and services will be private.
