Richard J. Mulcahey, 78

Richard J. Mulcahey, 78, of Oswego died Monday in the Oswego Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Mulcahey was born in Oswego the son of the late Charles and Irene (Torbitt) Mulcahey, and he has remained a lifetime resident of the Oswego, Minetto area. Mr. Mulcahey retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1991 where he worked at Nine Mile I and II Nuclear Power Plants as a mechanic. He was a member of the IBEW Local #97, Syracuse.

Mr. Mulcahey loved spending time with his family, and he enjoyed his retirement gardening and bowling.

Mr. Mulcahey is survived by his wife of 58 years Janette Mulcahey of Oswego, his sons Daniel (Tammy) Mulcahey of Oswego, Richard (JoAnn) Mulcahey of Oswego, his daughter Diane (Michael) Gates of Oswego, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery, with Rev. Joseph Larkin. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made in Mr. Mulcahey’s name to a charity of ones choice. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home 147 West Fourth Street, Oswego.
