Bernice Kelly Gravatt, 81, 09/21/2008

FULTON, NY - Bernice K. Kelly Gravatt, 81, of Fulton, passed away peacefully Sunday Sept. 21, 2008, at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton.

Bernice was a feisty lady who accepted her personal ailments with courage and class.

She was born in New Jersey and she had been a resident of Fulton for the last 20 years.

Bernice retired in 1977 from Money Life Insurance, Syracuse, NY, where she worked as a manager.

She was a member of the historical society, and Immaculate Conception Church.

Bernice was a volunteer with Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County, and Beaver Lake Nature Center.

She was predeceased by her first husband, James Kelly, in 1975, and her second husband, Paul Gravatt, in 1989.

She is survived by her five children: Nora (Don) Kelly Lampman of Cato, N Y, Michael (Barbara) Kelly of Albany, NY, Mary (Chip) Kelly Harkola of Camillus, NY, Caroline (Paul) Kelly Carney of Central Square, NY, and Kathleen (Charles) Kelly Helein of Virginia; her siblings: Harry Leonard of New Jersey, and Joan Kabara of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, and 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church.

Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sugar Funeral Home.

    Bernice was a very kind woman, I was blessed to share 11 years of my life with her every Friday. I will miss her alot. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends.

    I had the sincere pleasure of meeting Bernice just a few short months before she passed away. She was indeed a very gracious, funny lady and I am saddened by her loss. I oly wish I had met her sooner in life. My heart goes out to her family. I hope that your special memories of your mother helps you thorough this difficult time.
