Angelo J. Mazzoli Sr., 82, 09/29/2008

OSWEGO, NY – Angelo J. Mazzoli Sr., 82, a resident of 65 E. Utica St., died on Sept. 29, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Angelo and Rose (Gaquinto) Mazzoli and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

He was employed with The Palladium-Times as a typesetter for more than 30 years.

He was also employed with the Oswego Messenger and later retired from the Maintenance Department at the State University College at Oswego.

He enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Mr. Mazzoli was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marines in the Pacific Theater.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Elizabeth Powell; two sons, Angelo (Lois) Mazzoli Jr. of Oswego and Jeff (Cathy) Mazzoli of South Carolina; three daughters, Mary Wills of Florida, Catherine (Dave) Benzing of Oswego and Margie Gill of Oswego; five brothers, Thomas (Lillian) Piano of Binghamton, John (Gloria) Mazzoli, Frank (Kathleen) Mazzoli and George (Jeanne) Mazzoli, all of Oswego and James (Robin) Pagliaroli of Ohio; two sisters, Frances (Robert) Laurie of Pittsburgh and Susan Cernaro of Oswego; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Mazzoli; two sisters, Florence Coffin and Mary Fetherolf; and four brothers, Louis Mazzoli, Joseph Piano, Robert Pagliaroli and Edward Mazzoli.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7  p.m.
