OSWEGO – Robert “Bob” Joseph LeRoy age 85 of Oswego, NY passed away at his home with his loving wife Joyce of 51 years by his side on April 27, 2024.

Born in Fulton, NY in 1938, he was the oldest child of Ethel and Joseph LeRoy. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1957 and joined the Navy.

Bob was proud to serve as a Navy Seabee from 1957 to 62’ where he learned his trade as an electrician and carpenter. He was stationed at Guam, Chichijima and Kodiak Island.

After the military, he worked at GE as an electrician for several years before joining the IBEW Local 43, where he remained until retirement. 2024 was his 50th year as a member.

He was the general foreman of CPS Electric and became the vice president of LeRoi Inc. in 2013.

Bob enjoyed many hobbies including building hotrods. He was a semi-professional drag racer in the early 1960s, racing at local and regional racetracks, winning many trophies.

He was a certified NY State pistol instructor alongside his brother John LeRoy.

He loved animals and being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bob was an incredible finish carpenter and had a wood shop in his basement where he made many family gifts and unique items. He enjoyed traveling and spending time in Cape Cod with his family.

Bob gave selflessly of his time to his family and friends and was always there whenever anyone needed him.

He had a positive impact on everyone that he met and was a true joy and inspiration to us all. His memory will be cherished… He will never be forgotten.

Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce LeRoy née Aubrey and his sisters; Jean LeRoy, Joan (Murphy) and their brother John LeRoy; his sons Terry (Tammy) LeRoy, Brian (Dianne) Whorrall, Rob (Sara) LeRoy and daughter Dawn (Vic) Runeare. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Alicia (Jared), Lilly and Emma Francisco, Brian (Autumn) Whorrall, Victor Runeare, Eliza Runeare, Branden, Ethan, and Sierra LeRoy.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours from 2-4 pm on May 6th at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton with a service to follow where he will be accorded full military honors.
