Rosemary Story

FULTON – May 2, 2024, Rosemary Story, 100; of Fulton, NY passed peacefully in her sleep May 2nd, 2024, at The Grand at Chittenango, NY.

She was born in Panama to the late Charles and Cora (McGann) Arnold.  Mrs. Story was a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY.  Mrs. Story was hardworking and graduated from High School early at the age of 16.  She was past employed by Hunter Arms, Dilts and Nestles as an Executive Secretary.  She also worked with Dr. Lamberty and A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton.  Rosemary also took charge of all of the hospital’s operations during a time when they were in between CEO’s.  Mrs. Story was a gifted dancer and dance instructor.  She loved ballroom dancing, toe, ballet and tap and could even dance on roller skates.  Her dancing legacy continues with many of the local instructors having taken lessons from her in the past.  Rosemary also loved music and playing the organ.  She was a devoted follower of her God and Christ.  She enjoyed attending daily mass either in person or on television.  Mrs. Story had a special devotion to St. Theresa and the family remembers entering her home occasionally being overwhelmed by the beautiful scent of roses with the complete absence of any flower in the home.  In her younger years she and her husband Rossman enjoyed following the baseball teams in their camper around the spring training circuit.  They also found joy in raising dogs and even bred their St. Bernard and once had 10 of these large dogs running around their property.  In her elder years, Rosemary’s focus was prayer especially as she lost her hearing and needed more help.

Mrs. Story was pre-deceased by her husband Rossman Story in 1999, their infant son:  Joseph Gerard, their son John Story and her siblings:  James, Charles and Joseph Arnold.

Mrs. Story is survived by her children:  Joseph (Valorie) Story of Fulton, NY; James (Mary) Story of Fulton, NY; Amy (Bear Butler) Brown of GA and her daughter-in-law:  Jude Story of New Haven, NY.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren:  Teresa (Bryan) Hamilton, Timothy (Brittany) Story, Thomas (Marie) Story, Cassie (Paul) Monnat and Molly (Larry) Brown; and 9 great grandchildren:  Kayli, Tori, Sydni, Naomi, Olivia, Gabriel, Ellianna, Avery and Annabel and several nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be conducted Wednesday, May 8th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the

Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Scarcella.
