Oswego County Sheriff’s Office 08/25/2008

On 8/01/08, Travis D. Williams, 19, of 141 Wybron Rd., Fulton, NY, was operating a 1998 Pontiac eastbound on South Granby Road in the Town of Granby at 9:08 a.m. when he reportedly drove off the pavement onto the south shoulder traveling approximately 2/10 of a mile through shrubbery, coming to rest after striking a greenhouse.  The incident occurred 100 feet south of 125 South Granby Road.  Mr. Williams reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel when the incident occurred.  He was subsequently ticketed for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.

On 8/17/08, Amanda B. Brown, 19, of 30 Honey Hill Road, Fulton, NY, was operating a 2002 Nissan southbound on CR 14 in the Town of Granby at 3:01 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle ½ mile north of Wybron Road causing the vehicle to exit the west side of CR 14 and strike several trees.  Ms. Brown and her passenger, Jeffrey P. Hough, 24, were both transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse and A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton, respectively.  Fatigue and drowsiness appear to have been contributing factors in the incident.

On 8/17/08, Jessica Kaufman, 26, of 177 Standish Road, Rochester, NY, was operating a 2001 Jeep Suburban in a southwesterly direction on SR 104 in the Town of Oswego at 3:28 p.m. when she collided with a 2008 Suzuki operated by Jamie M. Essel, 24, of 831 Westcott St., Syracuse, NY.  The incident occurred as the motorcycle entered SR 104 from SR 104A into the path of the Jeep.  Ms. Kaufman and her passengers, Lisa Hickey, 28; Rebecca Reich, 17; and Kalee Kaufman, age one, were all transported by ambulance to the Oswego Hospital.  Ms. Essel was ticketed for Failure to Yield the Right of Way in an Intersection.

On 8/17/08, James S. Smith, Jr., 21, of 390 CR 58, Mexico, NY, was operating a 2004 Pontiac in a southeasterly direction on CR 58 in the Town of Mexico at 6:39 p.m. when he entered a curve 1/10 of a mile west of Rowe Road and lost control, sliding off the northeast side of the roadway, striking a utility pole, snapping it, and overturning, before coming to rest in a private driveway at 380 CR 58.  Mr. Smith was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse.  His passenger, Erin J. Stevens, was airlifted to University Hospital.  Unsafe speed and failure to keep right appear to have been contributing factors in the incident.  Mr. Smith was ticketed for Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent and Failed to Keep Right.  While this matter remained under investigation, an initial release named Ms. Stevens as the driver of the vehicle.

On 8/20/08, Denise M. MacDuff, 37, of 180 CR 23A, Constantia, NY, was operating a 2006 Subaru eastbound on SR 49 in the Town of West Monroe, NY, at 4:30 p.m. when she was reportedly rear-ended by an eastbound 2005 Dodge driven by Jesse A. Gazely, 19, of 50 CR 23, Constantia, NY.  The incident occurred 200 feet west of CR 22 when Ms. MacDuff slowed in traffic to obey a traffic control device.  Kevin J. Somers, 17, of PO Box 92, Mallory, NY, following behind Mr. Gazely, rear-ended Mr. Gazely’s Dodge with his 1996 Ford.  Driver inattention and following too close appear to have been contributing factors in the incident.  Further investigation led to Mr. Gazely being ticketed for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree; Following Too Closely; and Unlicensed Operator.  Mr. Gazely was issued tickets returnable to Town of West Monroe Court on 9/08/08, and released to his parents.

On 8/19/08 at 10:17 a.m., Lloyd F. Darling, 24, of 8571 Edwards Rd., Holland Patent, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree, following a traffic stop on SR 69 in the Village of Parish after he was observed driving a pickup truck whose registration sticker was not visible.  Mr. Darling was issued a ticket returnable to Town of Parish Court on 9/09/08 and released to a third party.

On 8/19/08 at 10:34 a.m., James J. Melendez, 32, of 100 Rose Lane, Rome, NY, was arrested based on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Lee Court charging him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree, which was revealed during an investigation into a traffic stop on SR 69 when Mr. Melendez was a passenger in the vehicle.  Mr. Melendez was turned over to a member of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.

On 8/23/08 at 3:53 p.m., Michael J. Layou, 35, of 3110 Hope Place, Baldwinsville, NY, an inmate at the Oswego County Correctional Facility, was arrested for Promoting Prison Contraband, Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, after he was found to be in possession of a small Bic lighter following visitation.  Mr. Layou was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge before Oswego City Court on 9/09/08.

On 8/23/08 at 7:53 p.m., John F. Czysz, 44, of 15 Kimberly Lane, Apt. A-1A, Mexico, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following the investigation into a property damage accident that occurred in the parking lot of his residence at 6:00 p.m. where he reportedly struck a parked 2006 Hyundai registered to Charlotte A. Douglas, 60, of 5 Kimberly Apartments, Mexico, NY, with his 1999 Nissan pickup truck.  He reportedly struck the parked car twice, the second time coming to rest against the Hyundai with the truck tires continuing to spin.  Mr. Czysz was ticketed and released.  He is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Mexico Court on 9/02/08.

On 8/24/08 at 3:44 a.m., David L. Kingsbury, 27, of 138 Crim Rd., Parish, NY, was arrested based on a bench warrant issued by Fulton City Court charging him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Fifth Degree, a class A misdemeanor.  Mr. Kingsbury was arraigned before the Hon. Bruce Wells, Town of Granby Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or bond.  He is scheduled to appear before Fulton City Court on 8/27/08.  He was further arrested based on a bench warrant issued by Oswego County Family Court charging him with violating Article IV of the Family Court Act (failure to pay support).  Also arraigned on this warrant before Town of Granby Court, Mr. Kingsbury was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond.  He is scheduled to appear before Oswego County Family Court on 8/25/08.

On 8/24/08 at 9:00 a.m., a 17 year old male residing in the Village of Phoenix was arrested for Sexual Misconduct and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A misdemeanors, stemming from an incident that occurred at a Town of Granby residence on 8/18/08 when he allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a female under the age of 17, a girl he had met over the internet.  The youth was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Granby Court on 9/15/08.

On 8/24/08 at 2:00 p.m., Raymond C. Auringer, Jr., 33, of 126 Richardson Road, Parish, NY, was arrested for Burglary, Second Degree, a class C felony; Criminal Contempt, First Degree, a class E felony; Criminal Mischief, Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor; and Menacing, Third Degree, a class B misdemeanor, stemming from an incident that occurred on 8/19/08, in the Town of Oswego when he allegedly violated a stay-away Order of Protection, staying at the residence of the individual named in the order, then woke that individual up yelling at her, engaging in an verbal argument.  Mr. Auringer was reportedly put out of the room and subsequently kicked the door open, continuing to yell, jumping on her, taking her phone, grabbing her by the throat and covering her mouth, then attempting to block the woman from leaving the residence.  After Mr. Auringer left the residence, he continued to call the victim asking for a ride.  Mr. Auringer was arraigned before Town of Volney Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.  He is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Oswego Court on 8/25/08.

On 8/24/08 at 4:45 p.m. Tanya A. Fenske, 24, of 509 Seneca St., Upper Apt.,  Fulton, NY, was arrested based on two warrants issued by the Hon. David Roman, Oswego County Family Court, on 7/31/08, charging her with Promoting Prison Contraband, First Degree, a class D felony, and Possession of Prison Contraband, Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor.  Ms. Fenske is being held at the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail pending a court appearance before the Hon. James McCarthy, Oswego County Court on 8/25/08.
