Oswego Man Completes Army Training
Army Pfc. Jordan M. Fulton has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Evening Distance Learning Course for SAT/PSAT Preparation
Do you need assistance preparing for the October 10th SAT? We are here to help! Oswego County BOCES Distance Learning Program will host an evening edition of the SAT Prep Class, Mondays and Wednesdays, September 14 through October 7. The classes will be held from 6:15 to 7:45 pm, in the Distance Learning Rooms at the Central Square, Phoenix, Hannibal and Sandy Creek high schools.

Buddy & Porky’s Pet Health: A Frantic Dog, Home Alone
Dear Buddy,
I just adopted a new dog, Amelia. She is about nine months old and she is perfect except for one thing. Whenever I leave the house, even for short periods, when I come back it seems that she has been frantic and destructive the whole time. I know I could leave her in a crate and prevent this, but since I work during the day, I would prefer that she have the run of the house if I can just get her to stop this behavior.

DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds Highlight Friday’s Action At Brewerton Speedway
The powerful DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will highlight Commercial Roofing Military Appreciation Night at Brewerton Speedway this Friday, July 24. The IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites and 4 Cylinder Super Stocks will also be in action at the D-shaped Dirt Demon. The great evening of family entertainment will also feature One on One Spectator Races. Show time is set for 7:30 p.m. All Military I.D. card holders will be granted free grandstand admission.

All-Star Field of DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds Return to Fulton Speedway Saturday
An all star field of DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will return to Fulton Speedway this Saturday, July 25. The DIRTcar Sportsman, DIRTcar Street Stocks, Novice Sportsman, Gladiators and the Mod Lite Series racers will also be in competition on Gypsum Express / Big Red Towing / Gypsum Wholesalers / TK99 / Camping World Night. The great evening of family entertainment “Where Today’s Legends Race Today†will start at 7 p.m. sharp.

Fulton Police Dept. Visits CYO
Officer Shawn Hanks of the Fulton Police Department treated Students in the CYO Summer Program at Catholic Charities to a special presentation. The children enjoyed listening to Officer Hanks and learning how to the Police Department works to keep their community safe. Officer Hanks answered a number of questions from the children and helped them gain an appreciation for all that the Fulton Police Department does to keep them safe.

Senate Passes Aubertine Bill to Create 1812 Commission
“New York played a central role in the War of 1812 and our region saw as much or more combat than any other region in North America. Yet, in the two centuries since, the United States and Canada have built a strong friendship between the neighboring nations,†said Sen. Aubertine, who introduced the bill in the Senate. “Here in Central and Northern New York, this friendship and our border with Canada have fostered economic growth in tourism and cross border commerce. In commemorating the anniversary of this war, we celebrate the peace that has brought with it much prosperity.â€Â

The Emergency Assistance Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County will host A.P.P.L.E.S. (Adopting Positive & Practical Life-styles for Eating) on Monday, July 27th through Thursday, July 30th. A.P.P.L.E.S. is a series of workshops focusing on nutritional education.
