Harborfest To Bring Back Popular East Park Venue

“We had a great deal of reaction from the community and festival goers about the absence of East Park this past year,” said Tom Van Schaack, Executive Director of Harborfest. “East Park allows us to be a more diverse festival from an entertainment and programming standpoint. Civil War Expert, Michael Redding To Discuss The Role Of The 147th New York Volunteer Infantry From Oswego At The H. Lee White Marine Museum’s Next Free History Lecture

Mr. Redding will discuss the role of Oswego’s own 147th NY Volunteers in the Civil War with particular emphasis on the individual stories of several individual soldiers. This regiment mustered in on September 22, 1862, mustered out on June 7, 1865 and was active in the defenses of Washington, north of the Potomac. During its service, the 147th lost 11 officers, 336 enlisted men to disease, battle and other causes.

Anybody who knows anything about the Northeast’s outdoors knows Oswego County boasts the best fishing in the country. But fish aren’t the only critters that rely on water for a living. Migratory waterfowl use it, too. And when autumn stirs the urge to fly south into their bird brains, massive quantities take the flight path over Oswego County, making it the most hunter-friendly place under the Atlantic Flyway.

What better way to motivate someone than to let them know they have the opportunity to help others?

Army Maj. Anthony Clemente said the idea for adding the charitable donations was inspired by his father. A retired Army major who served for 30 years, Clemente’s father lost his fight against lymphoma and liver cancer.
