Dick Atkins, Democratic Commissioner of Elections, right, gave an interesting and timely presentation about the new voting machine, the Optical Scan Voting System.

The Granby Elementary PTG will be sponsoring a Chicken and Biscuit dinner, Thursday, October 14th, to help raise funds for a new playground at the school.

The benefit will feature $5 cuts for men and children and $10 cuts for women 15 and older with all proceeds being donated to the Humane Society. Lunch will be served and there will be a raffle, and baked goods for sale. There will also be pets available for adoption from the Humane Society on display at the salon.

State Senator Darrel J. Aubertine will host the 2010 Oswego County Senior Health and Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fulton War Memorial to put under one roof a wide variety of services and products available to seniors in our communities. The event is being co-sponsored by Rural Health Network of Oswego County and RSVP of Oswego County.

SUNY Oswego’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Leave a Legacy of Oswego County will offer executives and managers of nonprofit organizations a presentation on managing legacies and endowments on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Holly Ross, at Dowd’s House of Flowers, will be coordinating the donation of centerpieces for ARC of Oswego County’s annual Gala fundraiser next week.

Newspaper articles dating back to 1869 will be displayed, and genealogy information will be available.

SUNY Oswego will present a workshop on permaculture — harmonious integration of plants, people, animals and resources in a productive community — on Tuesday, Oct. 12, featuring trained permaculture educator Valerie Dawnstar.

Oswego County Traffic Safety Board recently presented a Safety Champion Award to Deputy Brian Wills for his dedication to traffic safety.
