Fulton Rotarians Hear About School Lunch Program

November 8, 2010 Contributor

Terry Warwick, left, was introduced to the Fulton Rotary Club by Rotarian Jerry Seguin, right, in the above photo. Terry explained to the Rotarians the Fulton Lunch Program. The lunch program feeds children breakfast and lunch. Over 4,500 meals are served each day. About 60 per cent of the meals are "free or reduced lunches." The restrictions on what kind of food is served have changed greatly since Ms. Warwick started as Lunch Manager some 15 years ago. The requirements on avoiding fatty foods and foods that affect allergies has changed greatly. Nearly all foods served today are certified as being raised organic. The computer plays a large part in managing the lunch program today. All of the Rotarians agreed that the $1.90 the 7th-12th grade students paid for their hot lunch was a bit higher than when they attended schoolThe lunch program feeds children breakfast and lunch.
