War of 1812 Anniversary Under Way In Oswego

Oswego kicked off a 200th anniversary commemoration on Saturday with the War of 1812 Symposium. The event, at The American Foundry, consisted of a series of lectures which focused on Oswego County’s role in the War of 1812. Several local historians and history buffs attended.

Long-closed Golden Corral to Reopen as Daycare Center

A construction dumpster waits at the back door of the former Golden Corral restaurant, which is slated to become a Little Lukes childcare center.Work could soon be going on inside the closed Golden Corral restaurant on Rt. 481 to turn it into the fifth Little Lukes childcare center.

The site plan for the conversion goes before Fulton’s Planning Commission tonight.

Retiring Undersheriff Recognized by Legislature

The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety and Emergency Services Committee recognized Robert J. Lighthall on his recent retirement and presented him with a certificate of appreciation for his dedicated service. Lighthall has served the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 34 years. He began as a corrections officer and was later appointed as a deputy sheriff. After working through the ranks of sergeant and lieutenant, Lighthall went on to become Undersheriff of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office in 1999. Pictured from left are legislators John J. Martino, District 6; Amy Tresidder, District 16; Committee Chairwoman Linda Lockwood, District 11; Oswego County Sheriff Reuel A. Legislature Recognizes Weiss for 35 Years of Service

The Oswego County Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee presented Martin Weiss with a certificate of appreciation for his 35 years of service to the county. Weiss is an associate planner with the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.
