OMS Top 50 Recognized For Academic Achievement

The Oswego Middle School Top 50 was recognized at the seventh annual “Top 50” dinner. Once again the Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club, the Oswego City School District and Pathfinder Bank sponsored the special event to place the OMS students in the spotlight.

National Grid Transmission Line Project Under Way

Starting today (May 20), National Grid and their contractors will be undertaking an extensive maintenance project on their transmission lines. National Grid will be using helicopters, contractor line crews and associated heavy equipment during the length of this project.

Let’s Have a Good Old Summertime!

The Oswego County Historical Society has scheduled the “Good Old Summertime Victorian Picnic” for Sunday, June 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the lawn of the Richardson-Bates House Museum, 135 E. Third St., Oswego. Shown discussing plans for the event, from left, are Board of Trustees member Peg McKinstry, AmeriCorps volunteer Kristian Woolley, and event chairperson Lyn Patterson. The lunch auction part of the event will be held at 2 p.m.  Other picnic activities will include family games, old-fashioned music, and lots of fun! For more information contact chairperson Patterson, phone 343-2343 or museum, phone 343-1342.The highlight of the picnic will be a “Lunch-in-a-Basket” auction at 2 p.m. Professional auctioneer Ted Sivers has volunteered to run this exciting event and many local businesses and groups will provide the wonderful lunches for four people to be auctioned off.

Governor’s People First Campaign Rolls Into Oswego

The state's Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald delivers Gov. Cuomo's "People First" message to a crowd in Oswego City Hall on Thursday afternoon.

The governor feels very strongly that he was elected for three primary reasons, state Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald said. They are get the economy up and running again, ethics reform and restoring the legacy of social reform. Passing an on-time state budget was a good start, she said.
