Apartment Maintenance Man: Need for Pain Relief Drove Thefts from Apartments
The maintenance man charged with stealing prescription medicine from apartments he was supposed to be maintaining says pain from a recent accident was behind his thefts.
Shane M. Merritt, 29, was charged by Fulton Police with two felony counts of burglary as well as petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass.

Oswego School Board Approves 2012-13 Budget
In a brief session Tuesday evening, the Oswego School Board approved the superintendent’s proposed spending plan for the next school year. The vote was 5-0-2 with vice president Kathleen Allen and member Fran Hoefer absent. The spending plan approved Tuesday is $76,604,057.

Bats Go Cold In Oswego State Softball Losses
The bats failed to come alive for the Oswego State softball team that dropped a pair of games, 16-2 in five innings and 7-0, to non-conference Union on Tuesday. The Lakers registered four hits in each contest, but Union pounded out a combined 23 hits for the sweep.

Cortland Sweeps Laker Baseball Squad
Thirteenth-ranked Cortland needed a six-run seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie in order to complete a sweep of Oswego State on Tuesday. Cortland took game one, 13-2, and then used the late rally to claim game two, 13-5.
