As I write this column, we are closing out on a long week of budget talks and have just passed the state budget in Albany. I was happy with the budget process. It was done during the daylight and lawmakers had plenty of time to review the bills before voting. Again, we met the April 1 deadline–the second time in two years.
For the second year in a row, I can report your State Legislature and Governor worked together on a bipartisan basis to pass an on-time budget that works for you and your family. Why is that important? Because, after years spent earning its reputation as the “most dysfunctional” government in America, Albany is starting to show it can get the job done.
A partnership between the city of Oswego and the Tree Advisory Board continued to take root at Monday’s Physical Services Committee meeting. Following a lengthy discussion, the committee suggested the board take over several facets of the tree planting and care in the city and asked the board to meet with the mayor and DPW commissioner to work out further logistics.
