Help Close Puppy Mill Loophole

Hundreds of thousands of animal lovers  have already told the USDA to issue new rules to close this loophole that exempts puppies sold over the Internet from any oversight by federal inspectors. Now the ASPCA needs our help to tell the USDA to implement the proposed rule so it can start protecting dogs now.

Catholic Charities distributes Thanksgiving food baskets

Staff and volunteers at Catholic Charities of Oswego County have been busy preparing for this year’s Thanksgiving food basket distribution. Despite a downturn in donations, Catholic Charities’ food pantry will provide more than 250 families with all the fixings for a complete Thanksgiving meal.

Oswego Third Graders Benefit From Elk’s Lodge Dictionary Project

Once again the Oswego Elks’ Lodge representatives toured Oswego  elementary schools and continued support of area youth. For the tenth consecutive year they rallied to assist education with the donation of hundreds of student dictionaries to third graders in Oswego.

New Yorkers Thankful for Strides Made to Prevent Youth from Smoking

According to the Surgeon General, in the United States, 3.6 million youth currently smoke cigarettes. In New York, the current rate of cigarette smoking by high school students is 12.6 percent, less than the 17.2 percent national rate.
