The new inductees include: eighth graders Bridgette Anderson, Alyssa Fiegl, and Lainey Smith; and seventh graders Faith Bachar, Joshua Balcom, Christopher Blount, David Hennigan, Emily Kehoe, Seth Lurcock, Oren McDougal, Carley Stoker, Machela Sullivan, and Sullivan Worns.
A young volunteer readies children’s books for distribution during last year’s Memorial Day Parade in Fulton. United Way of Greater Oswego County and the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County have once again partnered for their annual book drive for youth.
Leadership Oswego County Youth (LOCY) is accepting applications for its 15th year of youth leadership training experience. The program is open to all high school students in Oswego County. Preference is given to those entering their freshman or sophomore year who have shown leadership potential and a desire to learn.
Principal Donna Simmons said, “Our school worked together to make the two weeks of English Language Arts and Math New York State Testing as motivating as possible for our students to do their best. These tests are challenging and exhausting and our students have been working very hard to prepare.”
Students in Susan Gafner’s sixth grade class connected via distance learning with a school from Alberta Canada to celebrate Read Around the Planet. The Sandy Creek students, using a format similar to the “Minute to Win It” game show, asked the Canada class questions related to reading and comprehension, all while performing a physical task.
Students in the Sandy Creek Central School District put their literary knowledge to the test for a chance to be crowned Battle of the Books champion, and represent their district in the county-wide competition to be held May 1 at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School.
The health fair featured exhibits and demonstrations focusing on health, wellness, recreation and safety. The event was sponsored by the Sandy Creek Central School District and the Sandy Creek School Based Health Center.
