The following Cayuga Community College students, listed by home town and county, have been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement in the Spring 2013 semester. A minimum grade point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 is required for this distinction.
On behalf of the Fulton Service Clubs Memorial Day Salute Committee, I thank the people of the Fulton area who attended and participated in the various events sponsored by the four Fulton Service Clubs over the Memorial Day Weekend. The sponsors of this community service project were the men and women in the Fulton Kiwanis Club, the Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club, the Fulton Lions Club and the Fulton Rotary Club.
Thanks to the efforts of great volunteers and the support of several area businesses and human services agencies our first ever Family Day of Play event was a big success! Almost two hundred children and family members joined us at Camp Hollis for a day of fun and learning and to enjoy the opportunity to interact with each other, make new friends, and participate in a number of child and family friendly activities.
Mother nature threw her best punches Saturday night when the skies opened up causing an over an hour rain delay. Instead of throwing in the towel, the Fulton Speedway track crew got to work providing a fast track surface for the nights features.
After a day long battle with rain drops and impending storms, the skies finally opened up for good on lap 10 of the Pathfinder Bank SBS feature. By 9 p.m. it was determined that the driving rain and continued threat of more weather, compounded with the already wet track conditions, would be simply too much to overcome on Saturday night.
June 1 was the opening of CNY Art Gallery located at 357 State St., Fulton. Many artist displayed some remarkable work in the new home of the gallery. Congratulations to everyone for an amazing job, not just the art work, but the gallery too!
Bonnie L. Cooper, 68, of Hannibal, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
