Fire damages Multiple-Family Home in Oswego

No injuries were reported in a fire Wednesday in Oswego. The cause of the early afternoon house fire at 80 E. Mohawk St. is under investigation by the city of Oswego Cause and Origin Team. Numerous people inside the building exited on their own.

Veteran Oswego School Board Member Resigns

Mexico Students Help Out OCAWL/SPCA

AmeriCorps member Missy Parkhurst helped students at Mexico Elementary School make pet beds for OCAWL/SPCA recently. Students from Michelle Bush’s and Gina Sherlock’s first grade classrooms and the YMCA SACC program participated. Other students brought in items from the agency’s “wish list” to donate.

Food Drive Set At Library To Benefit Human Concerns

The Oswego Public Library’s AmeriCorps members Andrew Baumgras and Rebecca Smith will be hosting a community food drive. Donations will be accepted from July 29 – August 9. This food drive will benefit Human Concerns in order to help them meet a growing need within the community.

CYO Group Helps Clean Up

Participants in Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program, recently volunteered their time to clean up the area along the shore of Lake Neatahwanta behind the Fulton War Memorial. The cleanup day was one of the many community projects that CYO participants are involved in.

Lighthouse Weekend Set August 3-4

The H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center celebrates Lighthouse Weekend on August 3 and 4 beginning with a Lighthouse Stamping event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on August 3. A recently released series of New England Lighthouse stamps by the US Postal Service will be offered for sale along with specialty envelopes and postcards.
