Each month, Recognizing Oswego County uses this recognition effort as a platform for emphasizing the wonderful work that is happening in Oswego County to promote the health and wellness of children, families and adults. The theme for July was traffic safety.
Brad Coe, a lifelong resident of the 14th Legislative District, has announced his candidacy for the Oswego County Legislature. Coe pointed to his record of more than 38 years of public service as an Assistant Engineer for Oswego County Highway Department, Project Administrator for the Port of Oswego Authority and as Scriba Town Highway Superintendent.
SUNY Oswego has awarded $6,000 Deans’ Scholarships to a select group of students who are starting at the college this fall.
Oswego Kartway returns to action on Friday with the running of the R.J. Kart Sales & Service ‘Battle at the Bullring.’ The annual ‘Battle at the Bullring’ has become the second of three crown jewel events at the Kartway, joining the ‘King of the Kartway’ in June and August’s ‘Kartway Classic.’
The Harborfest “Triple Play” 50/50 raffle for 2013 had three different drawings and three different winners. The lucky winner of the Sunday portion of the 50/50 was Oswego resident Bill Barbeau who took home $2,910.
SUNY Oswego has become the latest college accepted for the CFA Institute’s University Recognition Program, signifying its School of Business’ bachelor of science degree in finance strongly positions graduates to obtain the rigorous and prestigious professional Chartered Financial Analyst credential.
The sixth concert in the Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series will be held Wednesday, August 7 at 7 p.m. at Breitbeck Park in Oswego. These concerts are provided free to the public by The City of Oswego and The Musicians Union of Oswego County.
BREAKING NEWS: Today (Aug. 1), members of the Oswego City Police Department, along with assistance from other area local law enforcement agencies, arrested five suspects as a result of an on-going, multi-agency investigation. The arrests were the result of an investigation initiated by the Oswego City Police Department into the trafficking of illegal drugs (cocaine) beginning in the early months of 2011.
Held at Minetto’s River View Park and town hall, along the Oswego River and Canal, this free family event has a bit of something for everyone. Music and food with free craft making, face painting and ice cream for children will be offered. Craft vendors will be located by the town hall with wares from jewelry to hand made pottery.
