Floyd J. Chillson, 92, of Hannibal, passed away on Wednesday October 9, 2013, at The Manor at Seneca Hill.
Oswego County BOCES Culinary Arts students made 200 bag lunches for the event. Students worked in stations to assemble the ham and turkey sandwiches, some cleaned lettuce while others portioned meat on a deli slicer.
Distinguished children’s book author Bruce Coville roamed his old stomping grounds today (Oct. 10), sharing his passion for writing with students in the Phoenix Central School District. Coville, an author of more than 100 books geared toward children and young adults, grew up and attended school in Phoenix. He said his passion for writing was ignited during a class assignment when he was in sixth grade.
The new pact covers the years 2013 through 2017. Members won’t receive salary adjustments in 2013 or 2014. In 2015, they will receive a one-time lump sum of $1,000 for full-time workers and $500 for part-timers. Raises (2 percent) for union members will kick in for 2016 and 2017.
This weekend “The Pride of Oswego,” the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers, will be on the road to compete in “Blue Eagle Soundfest” at Nazareth Area High School in Nazareth, Pa. The Bucs will compete in Nazareth on the turf field which has a capacity of 4,200. The stadium is expected to be full for the show which starts at 5 p.m. Saturday.
SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley has announced the appointment of Dr. Jerald Woolfolk Adley as vice president for student affairs and enrollment management, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Adley will succeed Dr. Joseph Grant, who retired in 2012.
The Oswego Area CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Oct. 20 at 1:30 p.m. The walk will begin and end at the Oswego YMCA Armory, 265 W. First St., Oswego. Registration begins at 1 p.m.
