On October 25, starting at 7 p.m., a Halloween Costume Party for kids will be hosted by First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St. This is an annual old-fashioned party that includes group games, a costume parade with prizes and great refreshments.
Frank Dietz, a former SUNY Oswego student, Hollywood jack-of-many-trades and award-winning filmmaker, will screen and talk about his and Trish Geiger’s documentary “Beast Wishes: The Fantastic World of Bob and Kathy Burns” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23, in the college’s Campus Center auditorium.
The county legislature recently and city council on Tuesday night both presented proclamations recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month and honoring those who work to prevent such abuse. The goal of Domestic Violence Awareness Month is to raise public awareness of the epidemic of domestic violence in our country and to educate individuals on the impact and prevention of domestic violence in our communities.
Oswego County leaders and the New York State Association of Counties were among the driving forces behind recent legislation (A7893-2013, S1686-2013) signed by Governor Cuomo criminalizing the sale and possession of dangerous unregulated synthetic drugs. The Governor signed the bill into law on September 13.
Oswego Speedway’s championship banquet is set for November 2 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego with five free hotel rooms available for raffle to those who purchase banquet tickets by October 18.
The Oswego varsity football team had the best offensive display in years while the girls volleyball team earned a berth in the golf finals while the varsity soccer team lost to a close rival. In one of the highest scoring games in year the Oswego High School varsity football team rolled to a 56-8 victory at Watertown High School on Friday night.
For those interested in expanding or starting a small business in Oswego County, there is a small business training class scheduled to begin in November. The course is scheduled to begin November 7. The classes will be held at SUNY Oswego, 118 Rich Hall, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, November 7 through 26.
Frank Castiglia Jr. recently announced that he is seeking election to the re-drawn 25th Legislative District in the Oswego County Legislature which encompasses most of the east side of the city of Fulton.
With the holidays fast approaching, Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Community Services program has begun accepting requests for its annual Thanksgiving and Christmas meal distributions, which provide families and individuals in need with complete holiday meals with all the fixings.
