From the marvels of a state-of-the-art planetarium to the breathtaking view from the meteorology observation deck, SUNY Oswego’s $118 million Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation drew the oohs and aahs of hundreds of community and campus visitors at a recent open house.

The sound of bluegrass instruments will join classically trained voices when the Artswego Performing Arts Series hosts “Classical Meets Bluegrass” with the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble at 3 p.m. October 20, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall Ballroom. Known for their a capella prowess, the accomplished singers cross musical boundaries to perform a new work called “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass.”
There will be a different location during the month of October for the Oswego City School District Board of Education meetings. On October 8, the school board will conduct its committee meetings and a brief regular meeting at the Oswego Middle School Carl C. Palmitesso Theatre.
Students in Rich Rainville’s Auto Body Repair class at Oswego County BOCES recently received a used car from Fred’s Auto Parts of Oswego. The 2005 Ford Focus will be worked on by students over the next two months.
Interpreting a company from the 1st New York Regiment, Continental Army in 1782 Continental Arms Collectors Association’s Revolutionary War Unit encamped at Behling’s Orchard on September 22. People who visited the campsite had a unique opportunity to learn about the daily life of a Continental Army soldier.
