Since 2008, only two different drivers have won Novelis Supermodified track championships at Oswego Speedway. Residents at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego learned some new facts about animals, some familiar to our area, which are a part of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse; and even got to meet a few up close! Residents learned about the habits and habitats of eastern box turtles, opossums and parrots and were able to ask questions of the Gifford Zoo’s outreach educators who provided the program.

The Oswego Public Library recently learned from the Northern New York Library Network that they have been approved to digitize their collection of “Ontario Chronicle” the newsletter published during “Safe Haven” at Fort Ontario. The collection consists of approximately 27 newsletters covering the period of November 8, 1944, to August 2, 1945.

On August 14, 2013 at about 9:15 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were sent to investigate a reported domestic incident at 55 Siembor Drive in the Town of Oswego. When deputies arrived, they found the body of a 43-year-old woman in one of the bedrooms of the residence.

Preparation is under way for the 22nd Annual CNY Great Pumpkin Fest. The event will be held October 5 and 6 beginning at 11 a.m. each day at Washington Square Park. Vendors wishing to participate in Pumpkin Fest should complete their applications and return them to the chamber no later than September 14.
