Herkimer County Community College awarded academic honors to 555 students for the spring 2013 semester. Included are 205 students named to the President’s List for earning a grade point average of 3.80 and higher.
The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 377 students who excelled academically in the Spring 2013 semester to the SUNY Potsdam Dean’s List.
The event is returning to CNY Arts Center July 15-19 and August 19-23 with a week of art, writing, dance and theatre classes for ages 5 to 15. It will be held at 357 State St., Fulton.
Fulton Rotarian Judy Young, program chair, introduced Kathleen DeGolyer and Abel Searor from Fulton Community Theater to the Fulton Noon Rotary Club at a recent meeting. The theater group will present “The Golden Age of Broadway” with music and songs from the great Broadway shows of the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s.
The Baldwinsville library is receiving over $6,600 to complete energy-saving renovations, while the Phoenix Library is getting more than $12,500 to repair its roof and enact energy-saving measures.
The H. Lee White Museum & Maritime Center is offering a great summer water related activity in the Historic Maritime District. The program, Youth Community Boating Safety, was created to teach young people how to be safe on the water and learn the fundamentals of boating and sailing.
“She is basically a pet,” said Sgt. Craig Westbrook. “Just like any dog, you take her for a walk or throw a Frisbee. All that stuff I didn’t do when she was a police dog, because you don’t want them to associate a tennis ball or a Frisbee with fun. Then when you’re trying to use them to work she comes across a tennis ball and wants to play catch.”
After a half dozen races, the top twenty drivers in the current championship standings sit behind the wheel of either a Hedger Racing Chassis or an FFB Chassis, with the Hedger gang currently holding the front five positions in the title hunt.
Hannibal Central School is still accepting Pre-K applications for the 2013-2014 school year. This program is available for children residing in the Hannibal Central School District.
