More than 230 projects were featured in the school’s recent fair. Each project required students to research and create an interesting display on their own time about a topic that they find interesting.
Dr. Leigh A. Simpson Jr., formerly of Fulton, passed away Sunday May 5, 2013, at St. Camillus Health Center in Syracuse at the age of 91.
“What in the world would we do without our libraries?” This question, posed by Hollywood legend and library lover Katherine Hepburn, is one I often ask myself. From books and videos to community events and computer access, today’s libraries offer so much in the way of entertainment and education. Here in Central and Northern New York, we’re fortunate to have one of the largest concentrations of public libraries in the state.
The Friends of the Oswego Library respectfully asks the citizens of the Oswego City School District to support the Oswego S.D. Public Library by visiting their polling locations on May 21 and vote yes for the levy that’s has been placed on the ballot. This levy is required to operate and fund the Oswego S.D. Public library.
Oswego State softball players Tori Trovato (Fr., Fulton, N.Y./Millbrook) and Sammie Schroeter (Jr., Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) have been named to the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball teams as voted on by the league’s coaches. Third-year head coach Casey Price was selected as the SUNYAC Sandra Hollander Coach of the Year.
Visitors can browse through a large selection of furniture, kitchenware and pottery, prints, and vintage outdoor items, and even the building will see a new use when the Parish Antiques and Country Market opens to the public on May 18. Owner Cherie Stooks has spent the past several months filling the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church with a large selection of antiques ranging from the Victorian period to the 1960s and 1970s.
CNY Arts Center announces its annual Arts Festival planned for June 8. The event brings artists and crafters together with handmade original art on display for show and sale along with food vendors Tavern on the Lock and Treat Me Sweet Desserts, art projects including painting and fabric art, and a grand prize for festival attendees.
The following students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement at Buffalo State’s 56th annual Honors Convocation.
Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodifieds will take the green flag for the first time this season on May 11 and tickets will be available for only $14 at any Price Chopper Supermarkets location as a part of the ‘Tickets to Go’ program.
