Half-Shire Historical Society – March 15, 2013
Spring seems to be in the air in Half-Shire country. We had a quiet work weekend at the society on March 9 and 10 and it was very nice to work in the bright sunshine as it filtered into the front old classroom upstairs. Thanks to Dee Dee Barclay for the loan of some tremendous photos of Selkirk and Port Ontario from her own collection.
SUNY Oswego placing greater focus on attracting, supporting student veterans
To help veterans transition to civilian and college life, the college increased its focus on such activities as training staff and faculty in pivotal contact positions to handle veterans issues, better tracking veteran student retention and success, establishing a veterans resource center and lounge, and publishing comprehensive web resources.

Maffei to hold open house at new Oswego office
Dan Maffei will hold open house meet-and-greet event Saturday that give constituents the opportunity see the new Oswego office, learn about the services provided, meet the staff, and discuss their thoughts, ideas, and concerns face-to-face with him.
Symposium Presents the ‘Art of War’ and the Life of a ‘Salty Sailor’
The symposium runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 6 and from 9 a.m. to noon on April 7. There will be a meet-and-greet social with cash bar, a presentation of the painting of the U.S. Brig Oneida by Tim Ames, and early registration from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 5.
Caring and Sharing Breast Cancer Support Group to Meet
Members of the sharing and caring breast cancer support group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on March 19 in the community room of Oswego Health’s Fulton Medical Center.
