Fulton Rotary Recognizes Students
Each month, the Fulton Noon Rotary Club invites two seniors from G. Ray Bodley High School to share with the students the things that a service club can do to improve our local community and international world. The students also share the activities and programs they are involved in at the high school.

Youth Bureau Will Award Mini Grants for Youth Projects
Not for profit community organizations can apply for up to $1,000 for activities for youth during hours when school is not in session. Projects must be completed by the end of 2013 and provide a direct service to children and families in Oswego County.

DSS Hosts Feb. 9 Orientation Meeting for Future Foster and Adoptive Parents
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the DSS offices, 806 W. Broadway, Fulton, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

Councilors Consider Warm-Weather Events
The chamber’s requests for funding for several events as well as requests dealing with the Independence Day Parade, farmers’ market and Pumpkin Fest among others all received a favorable recommendation. The Oswego Lions Club request for use of Veterans’ Memorial Park for an expanded event was also sent on to the full council.

Freshman Kyle Covley (Penfield, N.Y.) poured in a career-high seven three-pointers en route to 29 points, leading the Oswego State men’s basketball team (13-3, 6-3 SUNYAC) past host New Paltz (6-10, 4-5 SUNYAC), 80-78, on Tuesday night.

Oswego State women’s basketball team comes up short in New Paltz
The Oswego State women’s basketball team (12-4, 6-3 SUNYAC) nearly erased a 13-point, second-half deficit, but came up short in a 56-53 loss to unbeaten New Paltz (15-0, 9-0 SUNYAC) Tuesday night.

Emergency Parking Ban In Effect In Oswego
Mayor Gillen has declared an Emergency Parking Ban in the city of Oswego, effective at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 22. This ban will be in effect until further notice. The Emergency Parking Ban calls for no unnecessary travel on city streets and no parking on any city street until the ban is lifted.
