SUNY Oswego’s Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series will feature the work of Samuel Barber, one of the 20th century’s most celebrated American composers, in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on February 23, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable and dessert.
Donations are not expected but will be accepted.
For more than 100 years it has been the Girl Scouts’ mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who will make the world a better place and local Cadette Troop 101 is rising to that ideal. Most of the girls in Troop 101 have been together in scouting since they were kindergarteners. Now in sixth, seventh and eighth grades, they are fast friends and a tight-knit team.
On My Own Time was created in 1974 by the Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse and Onondaga County (now CNY Arts), in cooperation with the Everson Museum of Art, as a collaborative project of the local arts and business communities. Participating businesses use On My Own Time as a platform to identify, celebrate, and promote artistic creativity among their employees.
The College at Brockport, State University of New York, recently honored students who excelled academically by naming them to the Dean’s List for the fall 2013 semester.
The following students were named to the University at Albany’s fall 2013 Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement:
U.S. Representative Dan Maffei today (Feb. 5) announced the formation of an agriculture advisory board for the 24th Congressional District. The board, which consists of 27 members of the agriculture community from all four counties of the 24th District, will meet regularly and provide Rep. Maffei with input on federal agriculture policy.

SUNY Oswego’s intercollegiate athletics department has been named the national winner for the Jostens/National Association Division III Athletic Administrators Community Service Award in two categories — An Array of Projects and On-going Project/Activity completed during the 2012-2013 academic year.
During their lunch periods, students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary were awarded for their good character and being responsible. Teachers chose students (within their class room) who they felt matched the month’s character trait of responsibility.
